I've never used this type of towels for my dishes before. In all honesty, on some surfaces it takes a few extra swipes to dry, but on the plus side, no lint! What a pleasure.

These towels are a wonderful addition to any kitchen. They absorb quite a bit of liquid even though they are not heavy. Makes drying glassware fragile and non-dishwasher safe silverware a breeze.

These Replaced All My Existing Dish Towels

They're the hugest and most absorbent--what more could I ask for in a dish towel? I purchased six of these flour-sack towels 3 years ago and they are still performing like work horses. If they ever wear out, I certainly intend to buy more from Chefs Catalog.
I use the towels on my everyday dishes and cookware, as well as my bone china, silver, and fine crystal. Not only do they absorb quickly, but they are completely lint-free and wick out the moisture from the smallest crevices with ease.
I have purchased other flour-sack towels in the past and found them to be smaller, less absorbent and not nearly so soft--yet the cost was about the same or higher. All of the old towels have now been retired to my rag drawer.

Great for wrapping and storing washed lettuce

We bought these specifically to wrap and store washed lettuces and greens or herbs. They are big enought to wrap up a whole head of romaine or a big head of butter. They are thin and keep the lettuce fresh for a week. After washing and spinning the lettuce lay it out in a single layer of leaves then role it up and place it inside of a plastic bag. We used to do this with paper towels this works better because there is more air and we are not wasting paper.

I received a set of these as a gift 10 yrs ago and they were wonderful... got many years out of them. Thats why I decided that I had to order them again when they got ugly and tattered. The new ones are NOT The same quality and I can not recommend them to others. I will keep them only because I don't want to pay return shipping and shop for some better quality in person.

When I first received these towels I could just about read the newspaper through them. So, I washed/dried in hot hoping to shrink the fibers, but it didn't help. They are not very absorbent because they're so thin, and surprise - they leave lint on the glasses. Maybe with a few more washings...?

FINALLY, A TOWEL THAT IS ABSORBENT AND LASTS FOREVER!! I BOUGHT THESE FOR MY DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AND SHE LOVED THEM. THIS IS OUR GO-TO TOWEL. WHEN WET, WE THROW IT OVER THE HANDLES OF OUR OVEN AND IT DRIES IN NO TIME, READY TO GO AGAIN, BEST THING I EVER BOUGHT.

I've been in sore need of some new kitchen towels for a while now. I'd heard how absorbent flour sack towels were and finally decided to try them out. I'm glad I did. These are large, soft and very absorbent. They will get a lot of use.

Too thin and not very absorbent. Very dissappointing. I will return them. In the past I have used other flour sack towels that were much thicker so i will go back to those.

I did not like these towels AT ALL. They do not in any way (other than the color) resemble the flower sack towels I am used to. These are much like linen and they do not absorb the water from the dishes as the old ones. Will not order them again.
Cons: Performance, Difficult to use, unabsorbent

Even after ordering these, I have to say I'm still looking for the ultimate lint-free kitchen towel.
They are not my idea of perfection, however they are better than three other major brands I tried. I'm just trying to get lint free wine glasses!
The value/price is good, however I will continue my quest for the perfect towel.
I still love Chef's Catalog!

May not be the prettiest dish towels out there, but they are, bar none, the best ever. Always have been, the flour sack towels, but growing increasingly hard to find.
Recommend highly and will buy more in case I can't find them anywhere in the future.

The worst towels ever!

What ever happened to real flour sack cloth towels? If this material was actually used for flour sacks, there would be nothing in the sack by the time it reached its destination. I would rather pay more for the proper quality material than less for a very inferior product. These towels are not very absorbent and do not dry stemware like a real flour sack cloth towel.

Not Flour Sack Towels

These towels are not "flour sack" towels and seem more like a gauze type fabric. Thinking I might use them for straining food stuff. The price for this item is entirely too high for the low quality.
