I just got this mill and made Tuscan white bean soup with cannellini beans. To my amazement, this thing actually separated the bean skins from the meat. I'll admit, I cheated and didn't use roasted garlic (too much of a pain). Now, I can't wait to try it. If it doesn't separate the skins, I'll update my post, but I'm pretty sure it will.

I had no idea that I would need a food mill to make applesauce. It was recommended to me by a friend's mom (not this particular one, but just that I needed one). Purchased on Monday evening in hopes I would have it by Saturday when friends were coming over to help process all of the apples in my yard. It worked wonderfully. easy to put together, large volume, easy clean up. It is a lot of work on the arms, but I don't think that can be changed when using a food mill. Also, we are thinking about having a baby, so I know this will come in handy then too.
I have only used one of the blades, but it comes w/ 3 options, which is nice.

This food mill replaces my old one that only had one grated bottom which just recently broke after many years of use. This new one comes with three interchangeable grate blades. I have a home garden and I use a food mill for sauces, mincing, etc. Can't wait to use it once I have fresh vegetables from the garden! Seems very sturdy and great value.-

This is a solid top quality steel food mill - a big improvement over the one I used to have. The capacity is good for most kitchen uses, and the 3 discs each with different sized cutting holes will take care of most shredding tasks. Quality/price cannot be beaten.

This is a well-built food mill. I purchased this one as the third model I have owned in the last 20 years, the first one rusted after a while, the second was constructed of a sturdy plastic with a steel insert, it lasted quite a while, but my guess is that this will outlast the previous two. I use a food mill mainly for soups, purees and to can tomato sauce - removing the seeds and peelings with the food mill prior to adding heat.
I have found that a food mill is closer to a "need" than an "optional gadget".

Reading Julia Child's Art of French Cooking. She makes a strong case for a food mill rather than a food processor for purees. This is just what Julia specified. Large and sturdy.

The food mill is easy to use and very easy to clean. All parts fit well together. The adjustable legs grip well to the rims of bowls and pots. It is time saving to eliminate peeling vegetables before milling. We have a large garden and plan to process and freeze the abundance of tomatoes using the food mill.

Returned mill after having to figure out how to assemble it with NO INSTRUCTIONS. When I did finally get it together - didn't feel as if it was something I really wanted to deal with!

This was an item my husband said would be great for our home. He is a chef and a culinary instructor and said the quality was commercial grade. Better than the ones he uses at work. The price was reasonable too.

I use a foodmill quite often. Mostly to rice canned tomatoes into a smooth sauce, but also to puree the vegetables I used to make chicken broth back into the broth.
I have purchased cheap mills and expensive ones. Stainless steel and plastic. Unfortunately, this food mill, like other more expensive ones I have tried, is not worth the money. It appears to be well constructed however functionally it is lacking. The blade is too far from the disk so it pushes the food around the bowl rather than pushing it through the disk. It takes FOREVER to do the job.
A competitor's product -- with a plastic bowl -- worked well but the plastic melted when the mill was placed over a simmering saucepan -- which it often is in my kitchen.
Haven't decided whether to return this food mill or try to bend the blade so it is closer to the disk.
