I had no idea that I would need a food mill to make applesauce. It was recommended to me by a friend's mom (not this particular one, but just that I needed one). Purchased on Monday evening in hopes I would have it by Saturday when friends were coming over to help process all of the apples in my yard. It worked wonderfully. easy to put together, large volume, easy clean up. It is a lot of work on the arms, but I don't think that can be changed when using a food mill. Also, we are thinking about having a baby, so I know this will come in handy then too. I have only used one of the blades, but it comes w/ 3 options, which is nice.
Pros: Easy to Clean/Wash, Value for Money, easy to use, multi-purpose, construction, Performs Well, Functional/Useful, capacity
This food mill is a great product. It is solidly made and does what it is made to do very well. It is now my favorite piece of kitchen equipment.
Pros: Easy to Clean/Wash, quality, easy to use, Low noise, multi-purpose, construction, Appearance/ Design /Style, Performs Well, durability, Functional/Useful

Quality problems - Handle fell off first one

The handle fell off the first mill I received. I literally justpicked up the mill by the handle and it fell off. The spot welds were simply non-existent. I returned the mill and the replacement seems to be fine. It seems to work well and compared to the price of a comparable All-Clad version was a good value for the money.
Pros: Value for Money, Warranty, Performs Well
Cons: Quality

Not great

This mill is pretty light duty. The metal is very thin and flexible, must be handled with great care. Also, the distance between the blade and paddle is inconsistent.
Pros: Value for Money
Cons: Construction, Performance

Handiest gaget ever

I use this handy mill for everything I want to be mashed consistently, like potatoes, squash, turnip, berries. This is easy--- veggies are fully mashed consistently no lumps and ready for seasoning and serving. I can often mash right into serving bowl and with a large crowd this is a lifesaver. I had an old mill my mom gave me but over time it corroded and became difficult to turn the handle smoothly. I love this new one. It is bigger more versatile and am looking forward to using when I make jams and jellies this summer.

double duty!

I originally bought this when I was making Tamales/Enchillada sauce from scratch (smoothing out reconstituted dried peppers), but since then, learned that I can use the coarsest disc to make spaetzle. It was a great discovery (and way less messier than other methods)
Pros: capacity, durability, Easy to Clean/Wash, easy to use, Functional/Useful
Easy to use, easy to clean and flexible usability. I was skeptical at first, but I'm so glad I bought this handy kitchen tool. So far I have used it for tomato sauce, with tomatoes from the garden. The blades allow for ultra smooth sauces, or sauce with a little graininess, depending on my mood. I can't wait to use it for many more recipes!
